Born on 7 November 1977 at Mpamba in Nkhata-Bay, a lakeshore district
in the northern part of Malawi ('The Warm Heart of Africa'), I am
the eldest in a christian family of six. I attended my primary education
at Mpamba Full Primary School. I received my secondary education
at Nyambadwe Distance Education Centre before joining Chancellor
College, the main campus of the University of Malawi, where I obtained
my first degree in education, linguistics and literature. Meanwhile,
I am studying towards an MA in Linguistics at the University of
Malawi. I taught English at Kasungu and Ndirande Hill Secondary
Schools and Domasi College of Education before joining the Department
of African Languages and Linguistics at the University of Malawi.
My dream to publish articles in linguistics seems to be coming true
very soon. Since my contact with Chancellor College in 1997, I have
been a strong member of Writers Workshop Group where some of my
literary items have been discussed. Some of the items in Chichewa
and English have appeared in local newspapers and magazines. I have
just married and, God willing, we expect to have children.
